Journal Header

Hello, everyone--

So I mentioned in August that Mom had 2 brain lesions -- most likely a result of the lung cancer she suffered last October. Mom had radiation treatments and she was holding her own, that is, until the next bit of bad news. Mom developed bone sarcoma (yes, that's bone cancer) in her right femur. She had radiation after the surgery and just after that, suffered a stroke. The cancer was just too virulent after that, moving rapidly from one organ to the next. Mom went into the hospital on December 3, 2007 and lost her desperate battle with cancer on Christmas Eve, Dec 24, 2007. My heart has been broken from the inside.

For all of you who have lost a loved one to cancer, my deepest sympathies. I know just how you feel. Please, encourage everyone you know to have those cancer screenings -- they are so important.

As always, thanks to everyone who stopped by, left comments, gave me favs and watch during my long absence. I appreciate it it all the way down to my toes. I'm a subscriber again, and I hope to contribute to the community this year. I hope everyone's 2008 brings good health, joy and prosperity.

Looks like we may be rubbing elbows in the Japanese Garden :-) You have beautiful work and I can't wait to see how you see the Garden this year. My gallery has quite a bit of work from the Brooklyn Botanical Garden- truly my favorite place in NYC.

Oh hey, should we wear matching carnations? ;) I can't wait to shoot the Gardens again, especially in this, the 25th Anniversary year of Sakura Matsuri festival. It is one of my very fav places, and I'm lucky that I only live a mile away. Thank you so much for your kind words. Your captures are also quite fine. :XD:

Ah yes!! Matching carnations so we can meet :-) What a pleasant idea :-) The BBG is my favorite place and I would be so happy to see you post all the work you can from there. It's not photographed much oddly enough - at least I believe so.
I live a B69 bus [link] away (from Park Ave).
:-)

Gosh what a small world. When I take the bus, it's the B71 straight up Union St. Mostly I walk. I have so many more photos of the Gardens. Take a look at my website [[link] - seven pages. Altho some were taken with my old camera with the sensor issues, sothe quality isn't as good as soon on DA.

I tried the link but it didn't work :-(
A lot of my work there was done on medium format and I never have gotten those negatives scanned.
A small world indeed :-)
